These are labs are designed for PEGS. There are over 100 lab bags for the students to complete at each student's own pace.  All directions are included in the lab links provided here. Select a lab bag, then come to this site for the directions.

Once you are completed, let Mrs. Robinson know. Make sure your science spiral is turned in each day for the labs to be reviewed.

To Start:

Directions:
1. Carefully place the items in the bag on your desk.
2. Make sure you have your spiral and a pencil.
3. Make each plane according to the directions in the book. Do it carefully – remember they are made out of Styrofoam! Don’t forget a nose cone!

4. Read about gliders from NASA:

5.   Set up the landing pad and launch each glider.

6.   Which went the farthest? Which flew the best?

7.   Draw a picture of your favorite plane.

8.   Write about why you like this one the best.

TI-15 Calculator Lab (grades 3-5)

Directions:
1. Gather your spiral and pencil.
2. Write your name and date in the top right corner.
3. Write the name of lab on the top line, centered.
4. Use this guide book to learn how to use the TI-15 Calculator. I don't expect that you will complete the entire book. This will be a lab you come back to in order to learn new calculator functions.
5. When you learn a new function, write the name on a line and underline along with the page number. Then answer any questions from the activity underneath this sub heading.
6. Complete as many as you want. Just make sure you complete the ENTIRE activity.


Amazing Body Lab (grades 1-3)


    Directions:
    1. Gather your spiral, pencil,  and lab supplies.
    2. Write your name and date in the top right corner.
    3. Read through the book. Place the body parts in correct places.

    7. Look through the book again. Select three body parts that are new to you. Write about each part, draw a picture and explain its purpose.
    8. This lab can be completed more than once since there may be several body parts you have not yet studied!

    Cat*A*Pult Lab

    Directions:


    1. Gather your spiral, pencil,  and lab supplies.
    2. Write your name and date in the top right corner.
    3. Explore with the Cat*A*Pult. 
    4. Create a catapult "chain" using two catapults.
    5. Draw the successful one in your spiral. Include measured distanced (in CM) in your spiral.
    6. Create a catapult "chain" using three catapults.
    7. Draw the successful one in your spiral. Include measured distanced (in CM) in your spiral.
    8. Create a catapult "chain" using four catapults.
    9. Draw the successful one in your spiral. Include measured distanced (in CM) in your spiral.
    10. Create a catapult "chain" using five catapults.
    11. Draw the successful one in your spiral. Include measured distanced (in CM) in your spiral.
    12. Write REFLECTIONS:
    13. What is challenging about this lab?
    14. Can you identify a catapult 'chain' in the real world?
    15. How could catapults be helpful in solving a problem?

    Microscope Lab - Animal Parts


    Directions:


    1. Gather your spiral, pencil,  and lab supplies.
    2. Write your name and date in the top right corner.
    3. Plug the Zoomy in the back of a DESK TOP computer, not a laptop.
    4. In the finder, type in Zoomy. Open Zoomy in a desktop folder, not from the Internet. 
    5. Open up Digital Viewer.
    6. The microscope should be on at this point and you should see a window viewer on the computer by now. If not, see Mrs. Robinson.
    7. View the slides with the Zoomy.
    8. Trace a circle in your spiral.
    9. Draw what you see with the Zoomy.
    10. Label the drawing and the X viewing size.
    11. Do this with each slide.
    12. Write the heading REFLECTIONS:
    13. Answer the following questions: How do the specimens look under the microscope compared to what you can see on the slide? What parts were you able to identify? What "real" size items in your world look similar to the microscopic sized items you see with the Zoomy?

    Crayon Maker - Physical Changes

    To start:

    1. Gather your spiral and pencil.
    2. Write the title on the top line.

    Directions:


    1. Learn about how crayons are made:

    3. Draw a cartoon of Linus explaining to Sally what a physical change is (or use 2 other cartoon characters of choice).

    4. Draw a flow chart to help someone identify a physical change (separate from a chemical change).

    5. List 3 examples of physical changes (from reading). Create 2 of your own.

    6. Create a few new colorful crayons and see a physical change happen!

    Mercury-Gemini-Apollo (5th only)

    To start:

    1. Gather your spiral and pencil.
    2. Write the title on the top line.
    3. Write your name and date in top right corner.


    Directions: 

    1. Read the card and study the picture.
    2. Write three facts after reading the card.
    3. Write three observations from the picture on the front of the card. 

    • What comparisons can you make?
    • What differences do you see?
    • How does the Apollo capsule compare to the Mercury capsule?
    • Would you have flown in any of these capsules? Why or why not?

    Project Apollo-Saturn V (5th only)


    To start:
