To Start:

1. Carefully place the items in the bag on your desk.
2. Make sure you have your spiral and a pencil.

Observations:

1. Write your name and date in top right corner.
2. Write the title centered on the top line.
3. Pull out the parts of the lab. Open the box.
4. Follow the directions to make one of the gears model.
5. Draw a diagram of the of the model and label the parts.
6. Read the information provided in the booklet about the gear you just made; there is a box of information about each gear on each 2-page spread.  
7. Right down 3 facts about the gear provided in the information.
8. Where can you find this gear in real life?
9. Have you used this gear before?
10. How could you make this contraption better?
11. Feel free to repeat steps 1-10 for another gear, or put things away and begin a new lab.
